Bergman’s private music studio includes students of many different age groups, each with their own special needs.  Steve prides himself on his diversity, and he attends to a wide array of technical and stylistic issues on a daily basis. He is skilled at teaching a five year old, teaching an adult beginner, or preparing a serious student for a career in music. Steve has over thirty-five years of experience teaching private music lessons and has developed his own system of teaching.  He has much patience and explains concepts in a clear, concise manner. He primarily uses his own materials, but he also has many teaching aids and makes use of technology.
Steve’s students have won many accolades, including membership in the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra and winning the Marin Music Chest Scholarship.  Many of his students have appeared as soloists, and several have gone on to prestigious institutions, such as Stanford, U.C. Berkeley, Harvard, and Cornell.

Steve Bergman lives in San Anselmo and teaches at various locations throughout Marin County.  He is a native of Marin and received his formal musical training at the University of North Texas. Steve has served as a faculty member of the San Domenico School Music Conservatory for the past twenty years, has a large private music studio of his own, and is an active free-lance musician in the Bay Area.  He is proficient in both classical and jazz musical genres and has performed with the symphony orchestras of Dallas, Fort Worth, San Francisco, Marin and Berkeley, among others.  He has also appeared as soloist numerous times with a variety of musical organizations, including the San Francisco Symphony, the Marin Symphony and the West Marin Music Festival Orchestra.  In addition, Steve has appeared at many jazz venues, including an appearance at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
