David’s Method

As a musical instructor my ultimate goal is to create students who will become their own teachers. I focus on skill development so that students will become self-sufficient and will eventually be able to teach themselves the music they want to play. I enjoy working with individuals to establish their musical goals and create a plan that will aid them in acquiring the necessary skills. Whether one wants to learn to strum chords for relaxation/entertainment or develop a high level of technical and musical ability, I can provide a balanced approach.  I emphasize the development of a core skill set in ear training, music theory and technique. I recognize and embrace the variety of musical goals individuals have and stress the development of the core skill set (along with plenty of good humor and positive reinforcement) only to the extent required to perform the music they want to play! I welcome motivated students of all ages and skill levels.

As a distinguished graduate of Berklee College of Music, I have received a world-class education in harmony, ear training, guitar skills as well as arranging and composition. I have performed in many ensembles of various styles, several original music projects in the Boston, Ottawa and Calgary areas, received the Division Achievement Award for Outstanding Musicianship and performed as a featured instrumental soloist in Berklee’s prestigious Guitar Night concert. I excel in blues rock, instrumental music, rock/metal and pop. In addition to my studies at Berklee I have over three years of teaching experience.

David Blitt was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and began playing guitar at the age of eight. Music occupied a central role in his life; from long outings with just a Walkman and his favorite tunes to extended study sessions, music was always there. In High School David took a brief hiatus from the guitar to focus on his interest in painting and the sciences. However, while completing a degree in Biological Science the allure of the guitar was hard to resist. David began teaching guitar on the weekends to fund his studies and soon was spending most of his free time with the instrument. After completing his Biology Degree, David moved to Boston in 2013 to pursue his dream of studying music at Berklee College of Music.

David graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music and has released two original music EPs. Archon released their debut album, “Waste You” on March 30, 2015 which is now available on all major music retailers including iTunes and Amazon. David’s other musical project Schirocco released their self-titled debut on June 29, 2015 which is also available on iTunes. Upon listening to the recordings one might be surprised that the same guitarist is featured on both albums. David is adept at playing what is best suited to a piece of music, whether that is a screaming guitar solo with blistering, rapid-fire lines or a softly played melody with delicate phrasing.
